WiFi hostpot

If you've acquired a WiFi dongle from us (or you've configured it yourself) then you should see a WiFi network (probably at the 5 GHz frequency band) named as erle- (we are creative sometimes) that you can connect with the following password:

password: holaerle

Once done, connect to Erle-Brain 3 using ssh:

$ ssh erle@10.0.0.1

Once you are connected to Erle-Brain 3, you need to change hostapd.conffile:

@localhost:~$sudo nano /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf

This is how it looks like:

# Basic configuration

interface=wlan0
ssid=erle-robotics
#bridge=br0

# WPA and WPA2 configuration

macaddr_acl=0
auth_algs=1
ignore_broadcast_ssid=0
wpa=3
wpa_passphrase=holaerle
wpa_key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
wpa_pairwise=TKIP
rsn_pairwise=CCMP

# Hardware configuration
#driver=rtl871xdrv
#driver=nl80211
ieee80211n=1
channel=40
#hw_mode=g
hw_mode=a
device_name=RTL8812AU
manufacturer=Realtek

You need to change channelvalue from 40 to 9. And Uncomment hw_mode=g and comment #hw_mode=a:

# Hardware configuration
#driver=rtl871xdrv
#driver=nl80211
ieee80211n=1
channel=9
hw_mode=g
#hw_mode=a
device_name=RTL8812AU
manufacturer=Realtek

Finally, don not forget restarting Erle-Brain 3!

If you have an Raspberry Pi 3 and you are using the "frambuesa" OS, you can use the external WiFi instead of internal WiFi (we only offer support for our dongles). For to do that, you need make following changes:

Edit the following file:

/etc/modprobe.d/raspi-blacklist.conf

And add the following lines:

blacklist brcmfmac
blacklist brcmutil

Then restart the Raspberry Pi 3.

The name of the WiFi network is erle- and the password holaerle. If you wish to change default name, open

 /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf

and change the line ssid=erle-<product> Instead of erle-<product>, write down desired name. And do the same with wpa_passphrase=holaerle to change the password.

NOTE: With default configuration, our DHCP only provides one IP address.
