Digital airspeed

Airspeed parameters

Plane supports the use of an airspeed sensor, which can help in windy condition, slow flight and autonomous landings. It is not recommended for most new users, however, as it does require additional tuning and adds one more layer of control to set up.

A Digital Airspeed can be connected via 4 pin DF13 (Erle-Brain 2) or via 4 pin JST GH (PXFmini).

The airspeed sensor need to be enabled in the parameters. Set to 1 the ARSPD_ENABLE parameter.

Airspeed parameters

When the ARSPD_AUTOCAL is set to 1 the airspeed will be automatically calibrate when the autopilot launch. Take into account that to perform a good airspeed calibration no wind is required, pitot tube should be cover with a cloth or similar during the initialization. You can always place the cover and repeat the airspeed auto-zero using the Mission Planners PREFLIGHT_CALIBRATE => Do Action.

Remember to write the parameters and reboot the autopilot.

Now the airSpeed value represents the air speed in m/s

The cruise speed and other parameter related to the airspeed sensor are available in CONFIG/TUNING > Tuning > Airspeed m/s
